When
the tide is right, places like Monkey Bay are just about as
accessible as physics allows. The coral is just below the surface
and brightly coloured fish dart here and there, inches from your
mask. Hin Klang is in the middle of the sea, though it isn't nearly
as deep as expected; you don't have to impersonate an island native
on the hunt to enjoy the views - floating on the surface is fine.
Phi Phi Lei has a few more snorkelling locations, as does Phi Phi
Don, Bamboo Island, the list goes on.
Tour
operators will supply equipment - i.e., fins and a mask - if you
book a package trip, or you can rent them from dive operators if you
choose to strike out on your own via foot or longtail boat. The
serious may want to bring their own gear, or inspect before booking,
as quality and available sizes will vary between shops.

It is a scandalously known location for Leonardo
Di Caprio's film "The Beach", as this island has a lot to offer.
The island is made up of towering limestone cliffs which form 3 main
bays. The 3 main bays are:
1.Pileh Bay
2.Loh Samah Bay
3.Maya Bay

Pi
Leh Bay
This is a small lagoon-like bay. Entrance of the bay is only at low
tide although the far end of the bay drops off to form a small tarn.
There is a small beach in the corner.
This bay is situated in the west coast opposite to the Maya Bay.
Similar to Maya Bay it has 100m plumb cliffs rising from the water.
Other than the afternoons this bay is fully in shade all the time.
This long thin bay is pretty shallow and is only accessible to
speedboats and longtails, it does not dry out at low tide and there
is a very small beach right at the back that you can just glimpse if
you're passing. It is very beautiful and excellent for swimming.
Entrance of the bay has excellent snorkeling opportunities.
Loh Samah Bay
The Phi Phi Island of Phi Phi Lei houses one of Thailand's most
beautiful beaches: Loh Samah Beach. This is one amongst the stunning
beaches in Thailand, and this is also one of the most beautiful
beaches in the world. Even though the island is unpopulated, it is
one of the most breathtaking to take a vacation.
This bay is located in the south side of Phi Phi Ley Island. This
bay gives a nice dive as the mouth of the bay is crowned by a small
island. It also has a small beach which is a nice spot to stop for a
picnic. People access the back end of Maya Bay as it has a hole in
the east wall of the bay.
Maya Bay
This is a stunning bay that's protected by 100-metre high cliffs on
three sides. Inside the bay are many beaches, most are small and
some only subsist at low tide. The main one is around 200m long with
silky soft white sand, underwater colorful coral and fish live in
exceptionally clear water; the whole bay is one big reef.
This bay is famous as the "The Beach" was settled here. It is not
enclosed as it seems in the film however this does not diminish the
splendor of this bay. One main beach and two minor beaches are
located in this bay.
This bay became the chief tourist attraction of Phi Phi since 'The
Beach' was filmed here in 1999. This bay was famous even before the
film was shot here, but now it is even more famous after the film
because it is known to everyone who hasn’t even heard of Phi Phi but
now is aware of Maya Bay.
Maya Bay can be visited only from November to April, because the
large waves make the doorway hazardous for boats during the other
months of the year. On any given day there will be 30+ speedboats
and longtail boats on the beach, with large ferry boats carrying
hundreds of snorkelers and sightseers moored in deeper water. It is
stunning; it is not secluded thousands of people visit each day. To
avoid crowd you can visit early in the morning or after 5pm.
200 baht is been collected per person as the main beach of this bay
is being patrolled by the National Marine Park rangers.
